As the sun burgeons, spreading it’s happy sunny lights onto everything it touches, it brings with it an assurance of an effulgent mood. On the brink of a new day lies new, fresh and untouched hope for something magical. More magical than yesterday and less magical than tomorrow. Once again, each of us is filled with new aspirations and deep enthusiasm to make them a reality. Beaming with glittering eyes full of optimism, we are thankful for another day here and are quick to brush off yesterday’s failures.
With great perplexity, we move on to the next ritual for the day. The mind seems quiet on the exterior but is boiling profuse thoughts inside. Does every dream, every hope, every aspiration always come true? Do I really attract good vibes if I think so? Is it okay to self loathe sometimes? Will I ever be able to make it? Is it okay to prioritize myself over my family? What would be the most engaging post on Instagram today? Would I ever be able to find the love of my life? When will good things happen to me?

Precisely this moment, a tiny voice inside my head whispers. I don’t know when your time will be right. But what I know is that one fine day, it will be your turn. You will leave homes, cities and countries to pursue greater and grander ambitions. You will leave all your friends, lovers and family for the chance to roam the world and make much deeper connections that you totally deserve. You will overcome your fear of change, your fear of leaving familiarity and hold your head high and do what you once thought was unimaginable. And it will be hell scary. Initially.
You will weep late into the nights, burn half a dozen breads before perfecting one, sing yourself lullabies and sweet songs to sleep, learn to clean your entire home without any help, realize how distance makes the heart grow fonder, walk to work each day greeting the flower lady, make friends in the tram, learn to appreciate music in an alien language while on the metro, fall in love with strangers and learn to appreciate your own company while sipping wine in your pajamas on a Friday night.
But most importantly my dear, you will learn to walk away from everyone and everything not worth your time. I hope you discover that in leaving your known, you don’t just find love, peace, adventure and freedom. More than anything else, you find yourself. And no matter who chooses to vamoose on you, you will never leave you!
Xx
